Shirley Ann (Ficht) Barrow

Shirley Ann Barrow, 88, of Metamora, IL passed away at 7:30 am on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at her residence.

She was born on October 18, 1935, in Eureka, IL, to Tillman and Velda (Schumacher) Ficht. She married Christie L. Barrow on July 1, 1956 in Washburn, IL.

Surviving are her husband, Christie of Metamora; children, Kristine Barrow of Versailles, KY, Bradley (Sara) Barrow of Metamora, Gary (Susan) Barrow of Richmond, KY, and Timothy (Ann) Barrow of Tremont, IL; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Thomas Ficht of Big Canoe, GA, Donald (Pat) Ficht of Morton, IL, and Judy Matson of Waterloo, IL; and brother-in-law, Jim Kohl of FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Connie Kohl, sisters-in-law, Jean Ficht and Carol Ficht, and brother-in-law, Carl Matson.

Shirley was a member of Woodland Baptist Church in Peoria, IL where she taught Sunday School to the 4 and 5 year olds for over 50 years, was the church treasurer for 25 years, and was a preschool teacher for over 20 years. She was also a volunteer at Snyder Village in Metamora for many years. She loved to garden, cook, and sew. Shirley was involved in all her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 15, 2024 at Woodland Baptist Church with Reverend Joel Newton officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to her services on Monday at the church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Metamora. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Woodland Baptist Church, 6915 North Allen Road, Peoria, IL 61614 or to the Snyder Village Residents in Need Fund, 1200 East Partridge Street, Metamora, IL 61548.
